Congratulations to Phil Viner, from Mark, Catherine and Susannah and everyone associated with the Creative Writing Programme.

Phil Viner, who finished the Creative Writing Programme last year and has joined one of our Advanced Writing Workshops, has just signed a two-book deal with Random House. The first of these two novels 'A Half-Remembered Death' will be out in hardback next Autumn. So, make sure to put it on your reading list!

Here is the press release from the Frankfurt Book Fair:

'A Half Remembered Death is a brilliantly accomplished debut, a heartbreakingly powerful blend of literary crime novel and ghost story. Phil Viner's dark and beautiful writing will inevitably draw comparisons to Gillian Flynn, S J Watson and Alice Sebold and his originality and talent will make this next year's BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP.'

Phil worked on the early drafts of A Half Remembered Death whilst on the Creative Writing Programme:

'I owe so much to the Creative Writing Programme. This book started out life in that course and was nurtured by its excellent tutors': Phil Viner.

Cheers Phil! And congratulations, once again.

Mark. Catherine, Susannah and all on the Creative Writing Programme
