Kemptown Bookshop is Brighton’s oldest independent bookshop. Established 50 years ago, it has three floors of books for adults and children, fantastic stationery, toys and games, gifts, fine art, and a newly-refurbished cafe. It is home to the 5am Writing Club and many of the student and alumni readings are held here.

Getting to Kemptown Bookshop
By train: Kemptown Bookshop is a 30-minute walk from Brighton station where there are regular trains from London Victoria, London Bridge and towns along the south coast.
By Bus: Buses 1,7, 11X, 12, 12A, 12X, 13X, 14,14C, 23, 27,37, 37B, 47, 52, 271, 272, stop near the bookshop.
By Car: There is some limited paid on-street parking near the bookshop
Accessibility
Kemptown Bookshop is not wheelchair accessible. The sessions are taught in the café area which is located at the top of a staircase (17 steps). If you require a flat access venue in Brighton, then Jubilee Library is a more appropriate option. But feel free to contact us to discuss your individual needs.
