new poetry collection from former student

Congratulations to Advanced Poetry Workshop alumni Lucy Heuschen whose debut poetry collection came out recently. Daughter of Fire is a fierce retelling of the life and legacy of Shakespeare's ‘she-wolf of France’, and Wars of the Roses protagonist, Margaret of Anjou - and other wayward women from antiquity to the present day.

The collection has received praise from poet Rishi Dastidar: ‘Heuschen’s language is direct, robust, fierce: fitting for the woman she brings to life so vividly.’

Lucy has twice completed John McCullough’s Advanced Poetry Workshops – which start again next month.
