Former student secures agent representation

Congratulations to our former student Hannah Doyle who has signed with with Stephanie Glencross at David Higham after receiving FIVE offers of representation for her literary suspense/psychological thriller set in Paris.

She took the Advanced Writing Workshops and says: ‘it was absolutely invaluable to me in validating my identity as a writer and gaining precious feedback on some of my chapters. These workshops hit the sweet spot for me: I didn't want exercises, prompts or teaching, but I didn't want an overly loose, self-run group, either. We were led by the super talented Laura Wilkinson who moderated the sessions and created a sense of structure and purpose every time we met, with each writer's work given the same serious, respectful consideration, all in a very friendly and uplifting atmosphere. It gave me just the right amount of healthy pressure to continue writing, even when my momentum flagged, and perhaps most importantly, I made a handful of lifelong friends here - people who have become very dear to me, and are now part of my Brighton family. These workshops are ideal for staying accountable and making supportive writer friends: to me, signing up was my way of saying to myself: 'I'm going to take this seriously'.

We’re currently taking applications for the Advanced Writing Workshops starting in October 2026 – on a Wednesday evening in Kemptown Bookshop, Brighton with Laura Wilkinson or on a Monday evening online with Jacq Molloy.
