student’s novel highly commended
Kate Gillhespy has been shortlisted and highly commended in the Novel category of the 2025 Yeovil Literary Prize. The competition was launched in 2002 and has gained recognition as an established fixture in the international literary calendar.
Kate’s first novel, I will mend you with gold, is a close-up story of a family living through changing times and attitudes towards mental illness who discover that while change and recovery is possible, you can’t always fix the people you love. The category was judged by book publicist and author Alison Barrow.
Kate was a student on the Advanced Writing Workshops, under the guidance of Laura Wilkinson.
Congratulations to Kate for her shortlisting.
